Last Thursday, nine seniors were honored in a graduation ceremony and received their well-deserved diploma! Former DSA basketball coach, Justin Childs gave an inspiring commencement speech, challenging the graduates in their next phase of life.
"In a society that seeks the easiest way out, you've grinded and finished the race. Rather than taking the easier way out, you chose to raise your ceiling substantially. Self-discipline is key to being successful in life and one of the biggest reasons you are here today. Because of this environment, you're equipped to be an employee - how to be disciplined, on time, and ready for work. You know how to give your best in everything you do. How you do anything is how you do everything. You're equipped to be a husband - you've been taught how to respect women, treasure them, and love them as Christ loved the church. You're equipped to be a father - you've learned that it's your duty to raise your children in a way of honor, respect and discipline. You're equipped to be successful in this next journey of life, whether it's at college or in the workforce."
Valedictorian Gabriel Cordova also challenged his classmates about their future. "Let God decide what's best for you.You may be confused why bad things happen and why challenges come up, but they're put there for a reason. God is trying to push you toward the right way - you just have to listen to Him. I don't know what the future will hold, but I know that with God, we will be able to do anything we want."
